AFAIK location slots between 3000 and 4999 are for Japanese LCU and slots from 5000 to finish are for Allied LCU.

I believe this separation is for AI purposes.

Now, I have run out of slots for the Allies and hope that I can use some "Japanese" slots for Allied units.

My theory is that in a mod without AI files (based on DaBabes-C) this will have no ill effect.

Or am I wrong?

The slot separation isn't just for the AI. The separation is necessary for a bunch of things.
