Could you please attach a DxDiag?
How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:
1. click on "START" 2. click "run" 3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK" 4. check through the tabs and perform all tests 5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

Sorry, but I'm not at all computer literate so do not understand these instructions even though they are no doubt very simple.
The only 'start' button I can see is the windows one but it does not have 'run' visible

I've noticed two slightly different forms of crashes in PoN. Most common is that the turn has actually processed but you crash out, the rare one is a crash that prevents a turn processing.
When you log back in does a new turn open (and the in-game record of the previous events). if so, its likely to be a script or event that isn't working.
In this case look at the main log (which you'll find in vgn/logs) and it will tell you which line in the turn processing is not working.
Then look in vgn/scripts for the latest script report - look for the last numbered one and then find the line referred to above. That'll tell you what event/script is causing the crash.
If its a complete wipe out then you need a save and these two log files as above, prob best to then post on the AGEOD forum

Press Windows key and "R" key at the same time, and a Run box will popup on screen.
Meanwhile, I've asked Pocus to take a look at this thread.

Thanks for your help
Here's the test. Seemed to say there were no problems. Crash always occurs during the processing of the turn when the battle screen comes up. When I restart game it goes back to point immediately before I pressed end turn arrow which is how I've been able to change the attack to see if that made a difference. It does not. Cancelling all the attacks on Grozny allows the turn to proceed as normal, but same problem occurs the next turn if I try to attack it then.

I don't think this is a DirectX crash, can you please wrap in a single ZIP your turn, the one before it crashes? Do you know where to look around? You'll need to know where the game is installed before we follow up.
I guess you are in latest patch, 1.03D

I decided to ignore Grozny for now and played on a few months.
On getting your post I decided to attack the rebels who were still there holding G. When I attacked, it appears they disappeared as I recaptured the province without a fight[&:]
Oh well, it's the only techie problem I have had with the game, which I am enjoying.
Tx for the help anyway
