Can someone in the development team please give us an update? It has been over 2 years since Ralph's last post and 2 1/2 months since his last log on.

As Erik said in his 'Status of TOAW' thread, Matrix would like Ralph to continue as the developer. Ralph is on a leave of absense (my term as Erik didn't give any) and us few on the Beta team have not seen him for nine months. Unless someone with better info stops in and says something, there is nothing else that we say about the situation because we have no idea what is going on.

It should be obvious by now, they just don't care.

Shazman,

I do not believe that.

Best wishes,

Bit more complicated than that.

I'd characterise it as being like your reaction to your son wanting to be taken to the fair- but the car is broken down. It doesn't particularly disturb you whether he goes to the fair or not: on balance you'd be willing to oblige. However, to actually take him there requires surmounting one or two relatively significant obstacles.

My understanding is that the people on the Beta team have a copy of 3.5. What I am interested in is how much more work needs to be done to finish it when Ralph returns. Is it 50% finished and will need another 6 to 9 months work or is 90% finished and just a few days work?

From another post Larry is testing a new scenario of Steve Sill’s using 3.5 so that would indicate to me that it is in working condition.

Only Ralph can answer that one.
... using 3.5 so that would indicate to me that it is in working condition.

Each sub-version has its own issues. Some are serviceable but all have quirks and bugs.

Hmm ... not sure I can answer that. I wouldn't think its relevant to anything, but we never know what a corporation will consider to be important to their corporateness. Does it matter to you for any reason, or were you just curious ?

Just curious. But I think it is strange that there different versions. Normally one would have the one version and it would proceed along a path of development until it reached the final product.

Yeah, just a misunderstanding, or I used a wrong term or something. 3.5.01 progresses to 3.5.02 and so on, just as you said.

Still curious. So we are at 3.5.??

Any answer to that question would be meaningless. It could be 3.5.102 but unless anyone can scry the future it is still impossible to tell what the final version number will be.

As Steve said, only Ralph can answer the question of how complete 3.5 is. And even then it would probably be a guess.

Best wishes,
Steve

What struck me was that Obesrt Klink manager to find only a around 200 people to sign the petition ... Are we really in such small numbers? I didn't use to think everybody plays it, but ... Come on, you lazy bastards.

200 people that can be reached through the "TOAW channels" - the usual forums, blogs etc.

Maybe he/we should have posted in the Matrix general discussion board. Or in the WitE subforum.. lol (latter being a joke although quite many (former) TOAWers are active over there)

Last checked a few months ago... with 243 supporters now. Also got the support of Nigel Askey, who's working on a monster volume of 'Operation Barbarossa: the Complete Organisational and Statistical Analysis'.

I recently discovered handwritten notes for my Kharkov '43 project and nearly cried how many hours I sat there doing all the research, only to be stalled cos' I can't even test the latest 3.5, which still is exclusively reserved for the beta-team. About to write to Erik to give those, who're still developing scenarios, somehow access to it.
