This started about halfway through a game the other day, the music just stopped playing altogether. I checked my options and it was still at the default placement. Now I started the game today and the music still doesn't play no matter what I do.

Edit: Some of the sound effects aren't working either it seems, such as the error sound when trying to crash a tech without the appropriate money.

Have you tried reinstalling Windows Media Player? Did anything change with your sound drivers or sound card/integrated sound? Do other sounds and music play in other games and applications?

I haven't done anything with windows media player, nor have I changed drivers other than my nvidia drivers since I got this computer a year ago.

So far I've managed to get the music and full sound back on a fresh reboot, but after 5-10 minutes in game the same issue comes back. After that I only get the general sound effects when zoomed in close, but the notification beeps are erratic.

Just want to bump this, downloaded update 1.9.0.6 and this problem is still there.

I've encountered this issue as well. The sound in the game continues to work as well as the all other system sounds. Quitting to the main menu and switching mods fixes the problem even if neither mod has a music folder.

Sometimes sound effects at a special galaxy location will fade out the music (e.g. special story locations, weapons testing site, etc)

In these cases, simply zooming out and back in to a normal location (e.g. your home system) will resume the music.

I zoom in and out all over the map quite a bit, that never fixes it. I can cycle game creation over and over from a fresh reboot and never have this issue, but when I actually start playing a map about 5 minutes or so into the actual game is when the music dies totally. After that the music is gone until I restart the computer and not just the client. I've had no issues with other applications so far either.

Having the same problem also. The music is working with version 1904. But starting with version 1905 the sound would cut off after 10 to 15 minutes and it is still happening with version 1906. And the only way to fix the music problem is to go back to version 1904. Can you please fix this as it is driving my son nuts.

This has happened to me since I brought DW last year. The music plays for awhile but when a song ends, it's just silence. I can still hear the sound effects, but no music. After awhile, out of the blue, a song will play again but when it's over, the music dies out again. I'm not sure this is fixable.

Happened to me as well, but very rarely: sometimes after a song, the next track never starts.
I tend to just alt+tab from the game (not because of the music bug), take longer breaks, and then it comes back sometimes.

The only way to get music again on my PC is a restart.

That's something different then. I generally play 4-5 hours at a time and the music never comes back for me. Before 1.9.0.5 it would continually play music, now it just dies after a bit.

Still lose music in 1.9.0.7 and .8. Did a complete reinstall of the game, made sure Windows is up to date and still nothing.
