What is really the benefit of using Antitanks ? Apart from the obvious attributes, do they have any special ability like Always firing first when being attacked by tanks or anything ?

Generally you get better hard attack, and initiative values at lower cost than equivalent tanks.

Better bang for the buck.

Thanks for the info. I have a vague memory that in PG2 antitanks Always shot first when attacked or something like that. That maked them very useful in defence which was their primary role after all.

When attacked by tanks AT-units receive a +3 initiative bonus.

They are good for defensive scenarios in the DLC's and also near the end of the game as the AI has very strong tanks.

Buy them early to get your experience up.
