Tried to search for this but couldn't find anything... How do you station troops on a space dock/station?

Add Troop Transport Modules?
Does that work, can you use Transports to "Ferry" Troops to other Ships/Stations with Transports? Troop Transports do add to Boarding Defense, it might even be a good idea...

Umm, i think you're looking for the assault pods. I belive they're supposed to help with defense when being boarded.

I guess my question is why?

If your trying to defend the spaceport/station, you can do two things:

1) increase the number of hab stations
2) increase the number of assault pods

Both increased the defensive strength of the spaceport.

And, figuring out the answer to my own question (duh), add troop compartments to the station...

And as turtlefang said, hab stations and assault pods help defend too.

I assumed you already have those on the Station, just don't know how to load the troops on them.
Because that one I don't know.

So I found out how to move troops from a planet to a space dock (dock must have troop compartments- go to planet window/troops and characters tab/ use "transfer" button)...
NOW- anyone tell me how I might transfer the troops back to the planet if I need to?
Looks to me like they are just "stuck" on the space dock...

I misinterpreted again. I thought you want a deep space base on enemy territory with huge amounts of troops on it for example.
Why would you want troops on the station just above your colony?

To keep it from being boarded and captured...

Hab mods and Boarding pods are what you'll need for boarding defense. Ground troops are only for ground, unfortunately.

And cheaper since they don't require upkeep.

For bonus lulz try to see if pairing tractor beams and lots of boarding pods can make your orbital station become a converter. [:D]

I was under the impression that ground troops do affect boarding defence. See Erik's post in here, for example:

I was under the impression that ground troops do affect boarding defence.

They DO defend during space battles but as I mentioned above, they are a poor choice compared to boarders due to the upkeep costs.
