Can anyone explain, why Nacht Staffeln won't fly night missions?
They are set to bomber and night. If I change it to day, then they will fly day missions but refuse to flight in night.

I am guessing a bug.

The more patches done the more weird bugs come up.

Wasn't there a global setting whether you want night missions or day missions?

Can you post a save. If you attach a save it would help figuring out what's not working. I'd expect if set to Bomber and Night as you say, then they should be able to fly night bombing missions.

The airfield with Nacht Staffeln is on hex X99,Y43

Server games make it harder to check into. I'm going out of town and won't be able to review this. Anyone else have any ideas?

I run a quick test and it seems the problem are aircrafts. I have started a new game. Units equipped with the Gothas are flying in night but with Bf110 they won't.

I have probably found root of the problem. Bf110s are fighter bombers and the night units can probably fly only with tactical bombers. But this do not left many options for Germans. They can fly only with Go 145 or Hs 123, both are out of production and with empty pool. Or with Ju 87s which are desperately needed for StG squadrons. [:(]

You may have found the answer. I have a save off the server so we can repeat the issue. The only idea I had was that a small unit would not initiate a strike by itself. Have you confirmed that in similar situations, small groups with other than fighter bomber will bomb at night? We'll get this on a bug list, although I can't tell you when this might change. It will get on the WitW task list to check the issue in WitW (although much has changed in WitW).

It is strange but I did new test with new game and they are now flying night missions using fighter bombers.
In the server game they still refuse to fly. Only other reason what I can think about is that I am switching them to fighter mission for opponents turn. Are they eligible to fly only mission type which is selected in previous turn?

being 1943, I have received some night fighters for some turns
no effects against "partisans supplyers" on first glance
none have air victory, all are fighters on night missions

On the other hand my "night fighters" (fighter-bombers or fighters set to night missions) score some kills (10-20 per unit in 2 years of war).

edit: this is for soviet side.

Would giving these squadrons the obsolete JU87B work? I mean the biplanes just get wiped out.
 
I'm also surprised that fighter bombers actually worked. Not to be too crass, but givent the availability of the Me110, do these actually work as night bombers?

problem actually is not to have bombers
Me 110 have been put on day mission (even NJS)
but some Ju & Do equipped with radar are sitting on their ass ![:(]

Ju 87 will fly night missions and even have a nice personal kill rate. Just tried that recently and was quite surprised.

The BF 110 F2 were originally used as Night fighters, so they are there to kill those pesty U2 Biplanes and the partizan supporters. If it works, I dont know.
One in each Luftgruppe, set in fighter and in night stance, Nightfighter set to 100 in the doctrin (last point) and your Nachtjagdt in on its way.
