I installed HUCE and within the platform editor the inital database was empty it had the name EmptyDB_PleaseImport . Looking at other forums it seemed I had to import something - since the only button was Import New Database I did that and it imported something called HCDB-090620. However going to database view in Access (2003) still showed nothing.

Is this expected as it seems somewhat strange

The Importing move was correct on your part. Going to DataSheet view from the fMenu form is where you lost your way. You'll want to click one of the Edit... buttons like Edit Ships where you'll see the ships. At those screens you can switch to DataSheet view if you want.

Thanks - a night's sleep gave me the same idea- clicked edit ships and they all appeared
