If it doesn't it should. The reality is that more US pilots died from aircraft accidents than direct combat (not sure if this is applicable to other national groupings). I think the game way underplays the role that this has on pilot numbers and fate.

This pilot fight over Manila, Singapore. He survive three carrier battles.
To only find death chocking to death whet eating cake
LT Nikaido J. was best Japanese fighter pilot in that war.

On recent transfers to Tracom, I've a theory that recent transfers are still "linked" to their old planes in the unit they came from in some way in the data & either than plane was destoyed/written off & in the random role of the die of what happens to the pilot, he became KIA. I've seen it a couple of times in my game. Only way I've seen to get around it, is to reload the savegame to a turn before he died & set the group he was in to no activity whatsoever then wait another turn to transfer him. It doesn't always work as sometimes the Computer Gods have fated their time is up.

Richard Bong was the leading US pilot and he died Stateside.
This is another piece of chrome the devs got right.

Hans Joachim Marseilles died when his 109's engine failed due to shoddy maintenance (Though the bullet from a Kittyhawk has the same effect)

hi koniu,
do I see in your Tracker pic that your pilot was wounded?
usually wounded pilots will gradually 'heal', but there might be a random check that causes them to 'die of wounds' in the hospital.

He was not wounded he has high fatigue after flaying LCAP mission day earlier.
Strange is that even he gain fatigue numbers of flying mission hold on 127 from at lest two weeks.
Day earlier i move it from unit to tracom. I had save but delete it already, where i can see him in tracom list after transfer. But next day he was death.
I can live with it. After almost 600 PBEM turns loses smaller that 50 pilots in day not have impact on me[:D]

He must have needed the stress of flying to keep going. Once he got moved to a desk job, he must have lost all interest in life.[:D]
