This looks like a must-have game for me - loved the old Panzer General, but couldn't get into the recent remakes/clones, as they seemed too free-form. This game appears much more historically oriented.

Could someone describe the campaign aspect of the game? Does the player get a sense of continuity? For instance, does one get a sense of not only immediate goals but strategic goals, for AGC or AGN, etc?

I'm only a few scenarios into the Campaign, it does seem to have continuity. I've had a couple of Army Group Center scenarios, then I was taken to Army Group South for a couple of scenarios and now the game has me in Army Group North. Each army has its historical units. For example, Army Group South had Wiking. I have not reached any of these decision points yet but I know that at least once you can decide to focus on the front of your choice. Also, some scenarios have a reduced Core force deployed, you get to pick which units to use in that scenario from its' entire Core Army. As units gain experience you can add combat abilities of your choice from a pretty good selection. In my new scenario I'm trying to decide on my Core to use. My experienced units with the added combat abilities are beat up so to refit them will take a lot of resource points which I need to refuel, rearm and reinforce in the scenario. So, I'll have to use some green units that are at full strength.
I hope this helps.

Each Army Group has its own goals, and you can decide which Army Group you prioritize after the battle for Smolensk. Regardless of which one you pick, many of the 1942 objectives will remain the same, you will play them in a different order, depending on which Army Group you prioritized in 1941.

For example: Only AGN can assault Leningrad directly in 1941. Only AGC can capture Moscow in 1941 and AGS requires less scenarios to get to Maikop if you can take and hold Rostov in 1941. The objectives for the Army Group you don't prioritize will be more difficult to achieve.
