I need the rules for the Afrika Korps board game. Can anyone help me out on this ?

The game is quite a bit dated, this is the one that Avalon Hill put out correct? If so there are others out there that are better. This one is very simple.

Sorry to intrude, but while I think Africa Korps is a great game (you WILL like playing it), I feel obliged to tell you to see if you can find a copy of Columbia Games wooden block game called Rommel in the Desert.

It is by far the ultimate experience.

Easy to learn, easy to set up, and just like the war in the desert, in a way no other wargame has ever captured in my opinion.

You are not intruding. I happen to like the simplicity of Afrika Korps as well. Pointed him towards Boulder, maybe they have it.

Alas Rommel in the Desert will be like a lot of old classic games, something that the collector in you will have to ferret out.

But it is worth the search.

It would be possible, that you might find it on eBay. Then again, it might require more searching.

I hope the Columbia Games link gives you a good jumping off point though.

If in a worst case scenario you come up totally empty, I have a copy I could provide image scans of. The manual is brief, map is basic, and counter quantity is not to extensive. But that is of course at best a limited solution.

The game is at this point in time not in circulation though.

I have the Victory sets, plus the "Front" sets minus The Volga one and the one that unifies the others.

I haven't had a chance to get the Napoloenics or the Civil War offerings, but I can imagine they would be excellent too.

Is there an East front block game ? You are talking about the Volga...what game is this commentary related to ?

But to answer directly...

I have East front, then got Western Front, which led me to get Mediteranean Front, there is a Volga Front (I don't have it yet, its a smaller item intended to predictably extend East Front). They also have a module that will unify them all as well (I don't have either).

I will warn you though, these games command full normal board game price. They are top drawer games, and they are superbly made. But when you add the total cost, well, lets say, there isn't a computer game on the market that even deserves the term "to expensive".

When I hear people whine "60 bucks is to much for Combat Leader" I want to yell ohhh shut the %#&#&#$# up you spoiled pussy!!.

The games feature very colourful maps with large over sized hexes (hey those wooden block have to go somewhere). The blocks are about a 5/8 inch square sticker applied to a coloured wooden block (coloured to nation). Average game has a small bag of counters per side.

The games use forces that are representative of Army or Corps level units (because 10k wooden blocks would not amuse anyone fast hehe).

But if you look at the web page I mentioned here, you will get all the details you can handle. and the site is just for the company, so it is easy to navigate, and not fully of unrelated clutter.

So, If I buy East front, Western front, Violga front, Meditteranean and Afrika korps I should be able to mend them all into a, lets say "Big game"?

And there is also the EuroFront and the EuroMaster Front !

Well...expensive ? I say that $35,00 each is not that expensive. And as you guys are saying, these are supposed to be fantastic games. I will go for them all.


Taking advantage of the attention that this topic received, I would like to ask another question....

What about computer games.....simulations, like hex oriented, large campaigns (Like Siege of Jerusalem)...? Where can I find and which one is the best to play. Where can I find players to play against in a long campaign, even if it takes a month to finish ? Like a Barbarrossa Campaign or Third Reich ?

Look at that link that I sent you to Russo-German War 41-44. It is one of the best Barbarossa and beyond Eastern Front Games I have found and it looks, feels and plays just like a board game. It even has a card stock Reference card that reminds you of the old wargames. Still looking for that address via private email.
