Switch resolution stopped working after driver upgrade

I just upgraded the Intel HD 3000 drivers on my laptop and suddenly the switches I have set for resolution in the "quick start" stopped working. I have tried different resolutions (the ones that are supported) but it always starts in the same window (I'm running on an external display, so the default window is really small). Any suggestions to try out?

Anyone? To clarify the problem, I'm not able to change the resolution - it always gives me the native game resolution despite the switch value I put in.

I reinstalled the game and got it working with -px1360 -py768 (slightly larger than the native). This is the maximum resolution the laptop has with it's own display. I'm running everything via an external display with 1920x1090 so I'm really wondering why the game could not run with a larger resolution :(..

It's not just you. Being older software it will not display on a secondary monitor. In my laptop setup with an ATI Radeon X1600 graphics card, the game window will move across to the second monitor of extended desktop but the graphics within the window will not update.

How I get the game into 1920x1200 resolution is to close the lid of the laptop which makes the external monitor the primary display.

I hope this helps,

I remember rightly from a much much earlier post (WitP I think) the game system was never written to work in a window. The ability to be able to do so was added later when it was requested. Considering how old the game system is now (over 10 years?) it's remakable that it is as flexible as it is.

External Displays and Win8.1

I had to correct by statement two posts above.

WITP-AE will only run (and be updated) on your main display. This can be a pain on a laptop as an external monitor is generally larger.

However Win8.1 (I've never noticed it on earlier editions) allows you to set the external monitor as the main display and WITP will run happily on the larger monitor.

Right click on the desktop, select "Screen Resolution", select external display and tick "Make this my main display".
