New to the game, pretty cool so far. Ran into a snag. I've attacked another planet and wiped out everything in orbit. I've got a fleet full of troops that are blockading the planet. I can't seem to actually land them. As far as I understand it, I should just right click to unload troops or ctrl right click. The ships do nothing and ctrl right click is not bringing up any option that sounds like landing troops. What am I missing here?

Left click on the planet, or right click and select "attack". That should get your ships dropping off the invasion troops.

The order to "unload" is different from "attack" - unloading is for your own colonies. Attack is to invade.

One thing to be careful of is the presence of bombardment weapons in the fleet. DW used to drop troops AND bombs, I think - it happened to me once and I made a habit of having troop transport only invasion fleets. I can't say for sure if this still happens... or if I'm just spouting bollocks... Still, it's best to have a fleet of only troop transports. Send in your war fleet first to clear the way - then drop your troops with high speed ships that will have the minimum delay between the initial troops and those that follow.

I think maybe I have a bug then, I have tried to get them to attack several times and the ship appear to do a stutter step then stop moving. I even get a message that I'm invading such and such planet but no troops ever land.

Just checking and an obvious question but did you load the troops onto the troop tranport ship first? When I started I didn't know I had to do this...

Yes, I checked a few times myself.

Maybe you should upload a save game. Sounds quite weird.
