Keglevich: For starters go to save and clear preferences (key icon)and then restart the game from the mech exe file. No guarentees but it may help, also are you using 800 x 600 resolution. All these may help, if not post here and someone smarter than me will jump in. By the way welcome to the forum. Once you start this game your hooked. By the way don't forget the patches for 7.1 also.

"W98" gets red flags all over the area, but since many gamers, apparently, can play on that system, it should work for you as well. :p
Reinstalling SP:WAW might help, but my tip for you is; check your soundcard. Do you have the latest drivers for it? Soundcards can cause all kinds of weird errors.

Try running the game directly by bypassing the autorun menu. Edit your shortcut to point to :\MatrixGames\Steel Panthers World at War\mech.exe. The autorun menu has possed tons of problems and this fix works about 90% of the time.
