Unable to set processor affinity

I'm playing on a PC with an old CPU and now that my game has progressed things are definitely getting a bit taxing. I thought I'd experiment with setting the processor affinity to a free core (Or two, I wasn't sure if DW utilized more than one) but found myself unable to do so. I have no problems doing this with other programs but with DW it says that access is denied. I'm not entirely sure why as I'm the administrator and as I mentioned above I'm able to do this with other programs. Anyone have any ideas on what might be preventing me from doing so?

Can anyone at least tell me if DW utilizes multiple CPU cores? I suppose if it doesn't then I really wouldn't have a use for setting the processor affinity anyway heh.

I would be surprised if DW actively uses more than a single core internally.
If you are on W7 you can have it enforce CPU affinity. Once the game is running open up task manager and right click the game process, there should be an affinity option.
Good Luck.

Unfortunately that is the problem. I am on Windows 7 and I'm able to set the processor affinity for other programs but when I attempt to with DW I am told that access is denied. I am the only account on the PC and administrator so I'm not sure what the problem is. I've tried setting the affinity with other programs since then just to make sure and I don't encounter any problems with any other program I've tried, just DW.

Open your Task manager.
Click at "Show processes from all users"
Then try to change the affinity, it should work now.
p.s. no i didn't know the problem, but little searching got the result a WoW player got the same problem.
But i still don't know why you try to change the affinity, the OS should handle that self and i don't think DW will run faster when you fix it at just core.

That actually worked! I have no idea why using "Show Processes From All Users" would make any difference, as it hasn't with any other program, but it worked.
The reason that I wanted to try this was because it was brought up as a potential performance increase for another game.
Anyway thank you very much for the help!
