James Longstreet is a defensive god!

LOL, in my recent restart I decided to try my hand as the South. I had Longstreet’s division defending Fredericksburg behind level 3 forts. The entire Federal army came at him with assault at any cost orders and I was sure he would be crushed as he was outnumbered in excess of 3-1. The battle raged for 3 rounds and Longstreet’s division which boasted 600+ CV at turn start only had about 80 CV when it was over, but he won.

To top it off he gets promoted to two star via event in January and is eligible for a third star immediately after due to this victory, lol who needs General Lee when you have a Longstreet on your team.

Man I forgot how much fun playing the south could be.

Jim

Edit: Oh yeah his 5-3-6 rating is now a 5-4-7 rating too.

Assaulting across the Rappahannock might have had something to do with it too. [;)]

Not that I know what all the statistics and figures mean on that screen, it sure looks nicely done!  Love the artwork and general look/feel.

I am inching ever closer to buying it today.....I had the first version, but never grabbed hold of me, likely I didn't invest enough time learning it as well as you seem to.  Thanks for your AAR and sharing information like this.

That is how this game simulates history excellently. When Burnside historically attempted something similar back in 1862 (attack on to Marie's Heights behind Rappahannock), he met similar fate.

I'd suggest, get the demo of AACW first; you'll get hooked. And yes, CW2 is bloody marvelous and in time will improve continuously, thanks to us from the community.

The few big battle results I've experienced thus far look to be very believable considering their circumstances.

Well done AGEOD. I'm quite happy with nearly everything I'm seeing in Civil War 2 thus far.
