I know very little about this title. Does it compare in any way to one of my all time favorites, Steel Panthers? Thanks for any opinions.

Steel Panthers is a 25-50 meter per hex very tactical wargame. Units on the map are one AFV or a squad/team of infantry. Losses are tracked to the man for grunts and vehicles can be damaged or knocked out. You have to micro manage every thing from moving to shooting for all units. The maps are smaller.
Red Storm is at 500m per hex and the unit counters generally represent a platoon of AFVs or squads (there are companies and sections and even single AFV/squad possibilities). In Red Storm you need to work a battle plan for a much larger force on a much larger map. You are telling units where to go, arty units where to shoot and with what, calling in air strikes and trying to fulfill mission objectives. Your digital soldiers do the spotting and driving to waypoints, selecting targets and ammo, etc.
If you are interested we have a number of god threads with information and screen shots and we have information on our Facebook page and, of course, you can always ask questions. [8D]

Steel Panthers was a tactical level game where each unit requested an infantry squad/teams (4-12 men) and individual vehicles. FPC is one level up from that set in the modern area. Units on the map represent platoons and companies. The hexes in games like Steel Panther would represent 50 to 100 meters where in FPC they represent 500 meters. This would be more on the scale of grand tactical with you playing the role of a brigade commander as opposed to a company or battalion commander in Steel Panther. I like both scales. I enjoyed playing Steel Panther in it days and I have been playing FPC as a tester for over a year and really like this scale too.

So this game is more like "Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge"?

No, Command Ops is more operational level with units representing battalions and brigades. It would be at least a step up in scale with the player acting more like a Corps commander.

Similar, but on a smaller scale.

Well, Steel Panthers III has same scale at least in the stock scens.
But main diference is in how you play because FP is WEGO and you give orders to units 2 things that for me increase the realistic taste.

SP3 was 200 yards per hex and was very much a tactical game where you did all of the moving and shooting. And a Hexagon states, in SP3 was a IGOUGO type of system as well.

Micromanagement isn't a bad word for me. So I hope I can issue a lot of orders [:)]
Sorry about my ignorance, but what does WEGO and IGOUGO mean?

IGOUGO means I take my turn and then you take your turn. In sequence. I go then You go.
WEGO means we both give orders and they are executed at the same time. We both go at the same time.
Good Hunting.
