Death descent?

On the beta patch, I was playing the first tutorial. When my planes return to base, I noticed that they are still flying at around 28,000 feet or so with less than 2 miles in distance from base.

Can anyone else confirm if their planes do this?

Thanks!

Probably not 100 accurate most of the time but how does this impact gameplay?

It would be good if you could set altitude profiles for waypoints. Perhaps you could set altitude bands for different A/C types. If an A/C is landing then it should descend to a low altitude prior to landing.

If you observe an aircraft during landing approach (preferably at 1:1 with hi-fi mode enabled), you will see that it gradually reduces speed and altitude. We implemented this for far more than just show; this makes the aircraft vulnerable to attacks during this phase e.g. by portable SAMs.

That aspect works - I was testing a scenario I'm building and an F-16 was on final approach, low, slow and out of ammo when it got jumped by a couple Mig-29s. It was quick and dirty....[:D]

That's great news to hear that A/C get low and slow for approach, as you say this makes them vunerable and is an excellent feature.

It doesn't, was just curious. Since the game is all about realism. Thanks.
