Hi,
why colud you select and put in ready status aircraft that are in manteinance?
If you select an air base, push the "AIRCRAFT" button, select the aircraft in MANTEINANCE/UNAVAILABLE status, press the "READY" button and select a loadout, a ready timer will appear next to the unavailable aircraft (e.g. 30 min).
Is it normal? Does it mean that in a mission like "Advanced ASW exercise" you could theoretically have 14 Nimrod ready to hunt sub in 30 minutes?

It would appear they are simulating light maintenance on the aircraft in the flight line that are on standby. An aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance should be removed from the daily flight list altogether. Its ready time would be in days, not hours.
