Database - units in long service not reflecting equipment changes

I was showing some real world Aircrew types some screenshots from a 1985 WW3 scenario I am developing and one of them (An E3 guy) queried why a 1985 E3B would have detected a Blinder by ESM ?

He said the ESM suite was only fitted post 90-91.

I found this page and it seems to confirm this:
http://www.targetlock.org.uk/sentry/systems.html

With the sensors hard coded into specific units, and those units being available for long times, the E3B is from 1985 onwards, this will mean unhistorical elements being used.

What are people's thoughts ?

Nice find!

Is that the Soviet Backfire attack on Britain you're working on?

Yes it is. But the more I develop it the more I realise I have to learn. [:)]

I seriously thought I knew all I needed to know about WW3 over the GIUK gap and the UKADR but blimey.

Currently, in the interest of historical accuracy, I am trying to find out what US ANG units may have been used in the defense of the UK.

I was informed a squadron of F4's was earmarked, operating out of RAF Coltishall. So then I had to go add Colt. And that was the tip of the iceberg.

Someone else informed me that one of the northern RAF Squadrons was earmarked to SACLANT for Convoy protection so might not be available for AD duty.

But that would depend on how the convoy war goes, so do I model that ?

Great fun though.

Very interesting I'd like to see it when you're finished.

Sounds familiar. I'm also looking for US Air Force reinforcements for Denmark in my own 1985 scenario. But the really hard thing is putting together the Warsaw Pact OOB, especially for the Baltic Fleet.

I am a bit surprised at the lack of Cold War info on OOB's considering how long ago it was now.

Logged a note for Ragnar to take a look at the 85 E3B.

Need to create a new version of the plane without the ESM gear, thanks! [8D]

There's a new database coming up after I've finished the code bits I'm currently working on.
