Just wondering if the Database Viewer shows the pictures of the various planes, ships, weapons, structures, etc. that are being viewed in the scenarios?

Hi CV60,

Would you mind if I copied your above post onto my website? Lots of people have been asking me where to find the database image packs.

No problem. FYI, I'm in the process of combining some of the image packs, and hope to get them uploaded into one package in the very near future

I just posted this message over on the Mods forum, but I'll also paste the text here, in case this would be the more logical location:
Being old and retired, my programming skills are way too rusty to consider dealing with this idea, but I'm sure there is some coding wizard who can whip this out easily...

I'm thinking that there could be a useful software tool or application that could be used to check the ...\Matrix Games\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB\Images and \Descriptions folders for both the DB3000 and CWDB databases and produce a printable list of missing items. A list like this would make it easier to hunt around and locate or make yourself the missing files.

I'm not sure if the master list would just be sequential entries like "Aircraft_xxx.jpg" where xxx starts at one and ends who knows where, or if there are some oddball values. Perhaps said wizard can strip this info from the .db3 files.

Anyway, it's just a thought

I'm just thinking that this tool might be of some use to you.

I'm really digging the imagery projects that are sprouting up for the DB. Very awesome!

Do you just extract the new database files to the DB3000 folder in the game.Is that all that is needed for the pics to appear in the scenarios? Text goes to Descriptions File?

Yup, pretty much. Images go in the images folders, text files in the description folders. Make sure you note the appropriate folder for each database.

What's going on, I am placing the pic in the Database Folder labeled DB3000 with the correct name say for a helicopter Aircraft_2376. This 2376 for example corresponds to the aircraft I am viewing in the database viewer during the game. The problem is no aircraft appears in the game database viewer but it is in the DB3000 Folder. Confused?

There are two databases. You are probably playing a scenario that builds on the database that you have not yet added pictures to.

How do you know which data base to insert the photos. Or can you copy and paste them in both.

Its very strange, sometimes the photo appears in a scenario for a nation, and then when I just search the database and find the pic it does not appear in the viewer. The numbers match but the photo just does not appear.I thought that say Aircraft_2364 photo should always appear in viewer no matter what.

Possibly the scenario is using the Coldwar database. The game has 2 DB: DB3000 and the CWDB (Cold War data base). Depending on the scenario, it references one or the other.

Hi CV60,

Could it be a good idea to harvest all photos out there and put them in one place? With credits et al.

I do have a couple ideas along these lines! [:D]

Something akin to a Command Content Manager program; which downloads and updates database images for you; so you don't need to keep checking threads to get the most updated version of a database image pack.

I've also thought about the same program scanning the Logs that Command outputs and searching for "VAMPIRE" and this program would go download and play a "vampire inbound!" audio track. Possibly also show little videos when you launch missiles ala Harpoon's ANI files. (The log doesn't currently record missile launches though)

Essentially it would be something that would manage the external content for Command.

This program will be months off tho... [:D]
