What is the largest a map can be?

Is there a limit to map size? If so does anyone know what it is? Right now I'm messing with a map about 200 x 350. Will it work in the game?

Hi Gary,
my largest produced map is Barbarossa Armygroup Center (BTW its my old John Tillers Campaign Series 3 years project) 800x600 Hex and it works fine for Multiplayer.
I tested my Normandy map 240x280 Hex and it works only with my new unit parameters also in single player.
I think - the most problem is to script this large maps for Single player - for MP everything works fine.
Which map project do you plan ?
For now - I have translate the most HPS series maps in Panzer Corps with 1km = 1 Hex and Batallion level.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I'll need to experiment a little. I'm working on a large map of the ETO extending from Norway in the north to Libya in the south and across the Atlantic. My plan is to create a stand alone scenario that is a bit like Commander Europe at War, except applied to the Panzer Corps engine.

Looks funny - but I have no interest. I use 1km = 1 Hex and like all historical units on historical maps.
My Belarus map alone is 10 times bigger like your Europe map.
You can only show Corps and / or Divisions on this scale.

Thanks. Yeah, the map sort of came out a little squeezed in width-wise. I didn't really notice until I finally got it finished and loaded into the game.

For big Maps is this maybe not unimportant:

a member was working on a map with 332 width x 232 height which worked, but such large maps will require the '/nocache' startup switch, otherwise the program will quickly hit a memory limit and crash.
The time in between turns runs from 1 1/2 minutes to 3 minutes.

I make my maps with approximately 5 km. per hex, and I think that's surely pretty huge.
Can You show a screenshot.?
