I’d also like to be able to Shift- or Control- select multiple units, rather than just having to drag-select them. There are situations where the units you want to select aren’t arranged in such a way that you can get them all with a drag-select rectangle, and then there’s no way to add those other units to the one’s you’ve already selected. Two things I missed were 1) Automated handling of air patrols and 2) The ability to assign a patrol position in relation to an enemy unit.
The second point IS handled by the Mission + Ref points menu.
'Make selected ref points relative (fixed/relative bearings)' which is a very powerfull feature.
Made a mission with 4 ref points square shaped in front of my main battle group and set just two ref points relatives.
The square became gradually a rectangle as my battle group was sailing. Not buggy, very powerful; fantastic !
The first point is handled as far as missions are continuous and the 1/3rd rule present.

One small disappointment is that, while all the data is there, there are no text descriptions of the entries themselve
This could be very confusing for newbies as it is hard to make a "picture" of the Platform with only synthetic datas.
