I just tried and successfully got to theunderdogs.org. Are you sure you used the correct name for them and are not perhaps using an old address for them?
thanks, John.

Oh well, I downloaded "Flight Commander 2" and "Achtung Spitfire!".
I love these games. Somehow they're very addictive.
Especially Flight Commander...

I dont want to sound alarmist, heck I liked the site when I found it. But has anyone had any virus trouble at Underdogs lately?
Back a number of months ago (well several I guess) I downloaded a bunch o games. And pow like a very solid shot in the mouth I was treated to a very nice saturation level of virus contamination in each and every file that I got from them.
It was to say the least something of a bummer. I turfed all the software and got an update to my anti virus. But the damage was done. I had to re install windows after cleaning the computer up thanks to my visit there I believe. The viruses were garden variety, nothing hostile (at least I survived , good thing I tried to download 4.5, cause my inability to run it was what sparked my investigation that discovered the viruses)
Havent been back recently. Would love to get a few of their games though.
So obviously I am interested in any comments from recent visitors.

I've been a number of times in the past few weeks, and I haven't had any trouble to speak of.

I've got a few games from there and have had no virus. I used Nortons AV to scan everything I downloaded.

Achtung Spitfire and Over the Reich are from the same company, and a little more recent. They're wwII games, so if you're looking for modern combat, they may not be for you.
You can get them at the underdogs. All three games are made by Big Time Software (of Combat Mission fame), but I don't think they are sold anymore.

If you're looking for modern combat, no matter which scale, I would recommend "Harpoon 97". It's the latest and as much as I know, the best, of the Harpoon series.
You don't have the same scale and not the same details, but an amazing arsenal of weapon-systems. (though it's strategic-level, with cruel graphics)
But if you're just looking for detailed dogfights, try Achtung Spitfire!, as Lucky Kaa said...
