Collateral damage ?

Hi, it would be cool of we could have an idea of collateral damages: Civilians killed, civilian building/hospitals/etc destroyed.
I guess it's not easy to implement but that would be nice information for even more immersion.
We could even imagine some penalties in the VP scoring system.
Maybe in the future ?

Interesting idea.....does any wargame out there currently model civilian casualties? Could have sworn I read an article in the past that suggested it was a very controversial topic to include in wargames, but I could be wrong. Might be a little too real for some folks.

We do have civi effects on the 2.1 list. Both losses and traffic issues. It is a bit of a dicey subject, but an abstracted mechanic to cover their impact in this level of warfare would be interesting.

Yes, it would be interesting and will add some headache/challenge for planner(s)!! It will educate us that war is hell.

Certainly would add an additional element that I am not sure has been done before...look forward to seeing how it is pulled off.

The first module will absolutely have civilians in it...if the game doesn't have them added before then.
Good Hunting.

Whether it impacts victory points should probably be up to the scenario/campaign designer. I don't think either side would have worried too much about collateral damage if the balloon went up in Europe, but perhaps in gaming some lower intensity situation than WWIII in Central Europe it could definitely be a factor.

I agree with this. While I think that NATO would take steps to minimize collateral damage, I don't think they'd hesitate to pulverize a few farming villages with 155 if they knew it was key to stopping a WP attack.

It would be very scenario specific for sure. Most of the impact will be on traffic and blocked route of movement. Also holding off WP forces while civis run West.

The West Germans would have. Possibly the East Germans as well.
Did we mention the East Germans will be along in a bit? [&o]

nukkxx,
The first Red Storm expansion will add Poland, East Germany, France, and Canada. Other details will be pending and we will let you all know as this develops. Right now we are working the support issues and a few enhancements for the first update.
