This game looks very interesting and the reviews are pretty good. But the cost prevents me from buying without trying first. Would love to see some kind of demo. I tend to think between this game and panzer corps Ill have my major gaming fix.

Don't think you'll see a demo, but they should put up a lets play of some sort to help you make up your mind. I was going to wait also, but the positive pub, the obvious great support and the game system convinced me and i'm not a modern warfare guy. I have no problem giving this a high recommendation as long as the game system interests you... I really like it and i'm hoping to get the time to put some hours into it this weekend. just be sure you know what it is and what it isn't and ask any questions you have, the dev's are good about answering.

racketyjack,
Best thing to do as budd says is ask questions and look over the various posts, AARs, and other content on this forum. Many "needs demo" or "never buy at launch" folks have been in your shoes and read and saw enough to dive in and have not be disappointed. Check things out and we hope you see the same thing.

There are game play examples for the Interactive DAR on U-Tube.
Good Hunting.

I have to admit that everyones' enthusiasm is contagious. Maybe some gameplay videos will help me decide.

Apparently there are some videos /// haven't watch them so can't say if they are good.

But I would definitely recommend the game especially if you like the Cold War theater.

For the price it is really quite worth it in my opinion. To put my personal enthusiasm for the game in perspective I picked up War in the East about two weeks before getting Flashpoint Campaigns. Having been a huge fan of Grigsby's work since the early 90's, and particularly a fan of Eastern Front games, I was biting at the bit to play it. As it stands I have barely touched WitE since playing FC:RS, it is that addictive. The one more turn factor is very high. I have not been so into a game since the original Civilization and Gary Grigsby's War in Russia.
What makes this game for me is the tension once you commit to issuing orders and watch the action play out. I am not sure the game play videos really capture this aspect. There is something about plotting your turn out and then having to watch helplessly to see how well you predicted your opponents intentions.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is a really fun game. If you have even looked at the cover of Red Storm Rising with a passing interest I would say this game should be on your to buy list.

Buy it, the game if absolutely bloody brilliant. Wargame of the Year for me. I've played a lot of pc and board wargames and I can't ever remember being this enthralled with a game. The right mix of design elegance and presentation.
Simply bloody wonderful!

I'm usually a lets play video and AAR guy before i buy, I just don't think a video will get across what the game is like to play...it's great.....fun and tense.....your going to have to take a leap of faith[;)]......you could be playing now instead of debating. The game system is great.....i'm sold......more please.
