Shameless plug: I am making a Vietnam scenario featuring Ho Chi Minh trail interdiction, CAS, CSAR, para drops, supply drops, etc.
Main aircraft is the A-1 skyraider. With other support aircraft like O-2,C-47,HH-53. Pitty the Spooky is currently broken. :/ would really love to use that in my scenario.

I think the AC-47 actually didn´t fly that much out of country(i.e. SVN), A-26 and NC-123(the latter as FAC) were used a lot for interdiction on the trail, if you want vintage-piston engine action over vietnam, you could use these.
Here is a excellent book about a NC-123 pilot in the war, one of thebest books i ever read!
