It happened twice since I updated to Windows 8.1.
I had to force close the app to go on.
Here is a screenshot.

Logged. We had another user post an issue with 8.1. Looking into this.

Can you please try deleting your Command.ini file from the main Command folder, then restart the game. Let us know if it still doesn't start.

Once I force close the app, the second load is always a success. I will try deleting the .ini file now to see if it's going to change.

I am sick and tired of this lockup, for a week now,1 in 10 times i am lucky to start the game, it shouldnt be like that, now i am wondering what ive paid for. I have tried every solution or suggestion. Mybe if i reboot it would start??

Build 441 Yes Command must be killed trough task manager, but no error message. So far tonight ive tried starting for about 6 hours. Some serious bug here if one have to be an IT specialist for running this game.......sorry my language.

Okay, let's go through the checklist.

First of all please download and unzip Build 451: tm.asp?m=3447889

Also make sure you manually re-install the Direct-X pack from the \PreRequisites folder.

A reboot is also a good idea.

After 3rd reboot in an hour, the game is running right now, but i know that if i exit it, it will take probably 2-3 hours trying to get it running again despite using same procedure as last succesive start. When exiting the game it still runs in the background, (exept for one single time this day). I have downloaded 451 twice already,and killed AVG in the process, now i am going to play a little while i can. See you in the morning.

AVG..... I've seen it twice already really mess with Command.

I managed to start up the game once this morning, after failing twice. When i quit the game, there was no Command running, but now it refuses to start after 5 attempts and 1 reboot.

I suspect that i got too little memory,-4MB, how much memory do you suggest i should get? or how too free more memory for Command?

Ok, this procedure seems to work;

1, Turn off AVG util restart,
2, run taskmanager to kill Command if its running,
3, then delete Command.ini,
4, open game as administrator
5, and finally continius clicking on start until it starts hopefully.

Sometime this works, sometime it dont.

Unfortunately it's not just an AVG issue.
I uninstalled AVG and installed NOD32 but nothing changes.
What I have to do is always deleting command.ini. I made a batch for that.
Annoying anyway. I hope you will fix it with the next patch

Yesterday i installed my brand new boxed edition and it ran flawlessly, until i just had to install build 451 and it refused to start again, as mention above.

Now it seems i have found a better way;

When ending a gameplay, i would leave the start game window on screen, for easier game start the next time to play, gets urging.

1, Disable antivirus until next restart

2, click "Check for update" button, it seems like it does something vonderful even though its up to date.

3, then i start game and it seems so far to start every time as it should with my preferances.

Now after playing and loggin off the game a couple of times, it refuses to play after several attemts. My next move would probably be to reinstall the game and not download B451.

Fixed in Build 482.
