Time to give it up?

I love this game but there appears to be too many bugs.Enough to make me give it a rest. Playing the "Purple" scenario and after a couple of turns the only unit I can give orders to is the Hind. Everything else works fine but I can now only tell the Hind what to do, Frustrating.

I've played about 5 or 6 scenarios and a campaign and have not seen any show-stopping bugs. Nothing close.

It's a great game, but you can tell by the responsiveness of the designers that they're dedicated to running down every little bug.

Did you play with the limited staff rule on?. I gave purple a quick try without it and could give orders to all units till the scenario end.Like BROJD I've played several scenarios and not seen a single game stopping bug yet.

baldbrother,
I hope that you won't give it up. If you are having trouble we need your involvement and help to isolate and fix the problems. Detailed descriptions of the problems, screen shots, and saved game files are most helpful. I have been playing computer wargames for years and I have learned that whenever a game if first released, there are problems that surface and FPC is no exception. That is because more people playing mean that the program is having to work with different setup and background programs. Some of these were ironed out with our beta testers, but having a wider audience means more variations. Windows in itself is a difficult environment. And we have more than one version of windows (i.e. Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows XP, and Windows Vista). All we ask is your patience. We all work full time jobs and have families. Rob our program works all day and then put in 4 to 6 hours every night on the program. Overall this has been a fairly clean release. Compared to other programs I have seen in the past, we have not had that many problems reported. We have had a few problems, but one by one we are getting them resolved. Mostly due to you guys helping us out and getting us the info we need. Some of the problems have been isolated because of unique setups people are running. But we are doing our best to isolate the problem and get fixes out.

I don't understand that comment. Even using limited orders you should be able to give a few orders to any of the units. If you had gotten the HQ killed then it would have frozen you from giving orders to anyone. I've never seen a situation where I could give orders to some units and not others.

Can you explain this in more detail?

Thanks.

Good Hunting.

M. R. First up, as I've said on this forum, I own and have played dozens of games and I have never come across a development team with the dedication and Commitment of you guys. I've had issues with the sub unit access and a minor glitch here and there but as you said it is one of the games that has hit the ground in pretty good shape in fact in great shape. I think last night 's frustration may have been Cabernet fuelled . Apologies, With the Purple Scenario I play with all the boxes unticked. For the first, couple of turns I could give orders to all units and they moved etc but after comin g into Contact with the Opposing Side only the Hind 's Square is accessible when I click on the others nothing happens. As I said it's frustrating. I'm running XP,
Regards.

Can you get me an uncabernet aided screen shot...[:D]

of what it looks like when you try to select a unit? Let's see what's doing this to you and get rid of it.

Good Hunting.

To expand on MR's point a screen shot of the map and the player tab so we can see the number of orders.

Thanks.

I've played a couple of weeks against the AI with multiple programs running in Win 7 (I work in Excel and Chrome-flip to play a turn-then back to work). I haven't run into any bugs.

Guys. Here's the un- Cabernet(ed)shot. I opened up the last save and found I could click on a unit but then it froze again. Only drinking tea this time...honest.

I discovered that I could click on a unit in the OB and on their icon below and give an order but could only manage one at a time because of the jamming.

Can you post the save file? You may have to change the .sav to .txt to get it to post. Did you call up the sub-unit inspector at all in this game?

Thanks for hanging in there. We need to get it working smooth for you.

I believe the issue is your comment about how you unclick/deselect every option when you start.

That means you are playing with the limited orders option as being active.

If you give a single order that may be all you have. If you give that one to the Hind first that could be your one and only order and the others won't accept them.

Have you tried to play the scenario by only deselecting the top and bottom option? What does that do for you?

Good Hunting.

Thanks chaps. Not sure how to change the save game file name though. MR. Playing now with only top and bottom option selected and could give all units orders at the beginning but as i got closer order issuing was restricted due to time constraints and jamming !

Sub Unit only works two times - for me at least - and then stops.

this screen opens, pick a theme, you can scroll down and try the aero themes also i loaded them and they worked for me also. I had my on a basic theme, i guess basic and high contrast themes screw up the subunit at the moment. Hope it works for you.
