Excellent photos. In fact, the whole website has a great collection. Bookmarked as well.

You guys might also like Shorpy. It has a ton of Hi-Def photos, many from world wars and historical events.

The Germans had far superior optics than the Allies and some of their photo's from WW1 are as good as any modern day picture!

Jack Sheldon and Ralph Whitehead are the best WW1 authors from the German perspective..none come close.

Has anybody stories about where their ancestors fought or what they did during WW1? I don't, this war has been always kind of a black box to me. [:(]

On my fathers side I had an ancestor that lived in Poland before WW1...He was originally from Sweden but was granted land in Poland after fighting in the Franco Prussian war.He fled Poland right before the outbreak of WW1 and came to the United States..The town he lived in in Poland was leveled upon the outbreak of the war so I am told.
