How do I set up a no fly zone?

I'm playing Malvinas and would like to setup a no fly zone around a group of unknown ships that I suspect are missile boats. I would like to set reference points fixed around one of the ships. I cant see how ,in game, I classify these as no fly for my Harriers. Thanks.

Make sure all other reference points are deselected (Missions + ref points -> deselect all reference points) then add the four reference points (either by adding 4 points one by one or by ctrl-right clicking, selecting define area, and click dragging four point area around it.

Then, select one of your units (doesnt have to be a harrier), go to Unit orders, select No navigation zones -> create new from selected ref points.

You'll get a new menu, the four reference points should be listed as the zone area. You can select if it applies for aircraft ships subs land units or any combination thereof.

Give it a name (or leave it at default) and hit Save.

Should do the trick. Let me know if that helps or if more is needed!

Can you elaborate on your question? I'm not sure what you mean.

If I follow the steps I posted above, I end up with a zone that looks something like this:

Well I created a new blank Scenario & it worked first time. But in my existing scenario it will not create the RED fill. its just four reference points :(

thanks Anyway. I know next time to create the no fly zones first. :)

can you post a savegame of your scenario where it is not working? I'll take a look at it and see if I can figure out what is going on.

just find the file, make a zip out of it, and attach it to a post here in the forum. if you have trouble let me know

Is this save supposed to be before or after you create the zone?

Because if i go to the Edit existing no nav zones menu, I dont see any listed. And if I create one with the 4 RPs that are selected when I load, it seems to create and be red just fine?

If you have a different save AFTER you make the zone, yet it isnt red, I'd like to see it. If this save was already meant to be after you made the zone, then something went wrong and it didn't save I think.

Steps I did:
- Open the scenario and select US Air Force (just a guess, if it's for a different side let me know)
- I see four RPs are highlighted off the coast of Da Nang
- Select any friendly unit (example Da Nang itself)
- Unit orders -> No nav zones -> create new from selected RPs
- menu pops up to select who it applies to and the zone already appears shaded:

If I'm using the wrong side or the wrong RPs let me know.

Your a good man running through all that for me. Bizarrely it is now working for me, I swear I was doing the same as you before. Do exclusion zones show red too? perhaps i was using that instead of No nav Zone.

Anyway regardless It is working. thanks again.

No problem!

Now that I look you do indeed have an exclusion zone sitting on those 4 RPs in the save you provided. And it looks like those only show their outline when they are selected in that menu.

And remember which one to use for which case: No Nav zone if you want a certain type of that side's unit not to go in there, and exclusion zone if you want another sides units to be deemed hostile or unfriendly when entering.
