Can I play WiF with 2 computers ?

Hi,
I would like to play MWiF with a friend, at home. I have purchased the game, he didn't.
Do we have to play hotseat only or can I use my desktop computer while he's using my laptop for a more comfortable play ?
I ask this because I guess both computers would have to be connected on netplay and I suppose that only one MWiF key can be connected at a time ?
can we do this or the answer is :
"hotseat or buy another copy [:'(]" ?
