Want to purchase but almost 40% more for shipping? SOLVED

Please, I am so willing to purchase the game and I will but I am asking is there a chance we could choose a cheaper way to ship the copy of the game.

I mean I almost accepted a Fed Ex charge of over $48.00 US on top of the $119.00 CND to buy the game. I mean come on? That is an outrageous charge in excess. I have no problems with at least an offer of "slow boat to China" mail charge from the US to Canada. And more then likely (and understand this is not your fault) I will be dinged with another $40.00 to $60.00 charge when it crosses the border. No way in heck my wife and myself not to say the least, will let me spend more on shipping and duties than the actual game.

I only ask that you give us an option, if not now eventually.

Still remain loyal and not meant to bad mouthing here, just would prefer my money go to the Devs and not Fed Ex.

Felt the same but just bit the bullet and went ahead and bought it. I suppose I will at least get all giddy again when the books and CD arrive etc. Thing is, I now have it on the PC and can start to watch the vids etc so I hope that will make me forget the ridiculous shipping cost. I just hope there is enough players whom play this game and it does not go dead and left to play solo all the time.

Thanks goulash, I totally understand where you are coming from and by all means I am saying to the Devs "Take my Money"!!!! But refuse to pay those outrageous rates to Fed Ex or any other shipping company for something they have absolutely nothing to do with the game. Plain and Simple. No problem paying a shipping fee that I can choose even if it takes 3 plus weeks to get to me, plus Fed Ex will demand on delivery a huge Border Fee charge before letting the box go which means I will have to leave my CC at the house for when they appear without having any idea what that fee will be in advance or they will simply take it back to a Customs Broker way at the other end of town that I can ONLY pick up at a certain time of day or they ship it back unclaimed............I have had that happen twice now.

Some may be in a hurry to get the physical copy, but I am not, The PS4 comes out on Friday and the XBox One a week from then. So my hands are full. this purchase can wait until they come up with a less expedient and expensive way to ship a physical copy of a Game. Hey Man, let me buy the Game and don't ship it to me, that way I save over $120.00 in shipping costs can still play it as the DL is included.

Until then, I will wait.

Hmmm was not aware I was going to get slapped with additional cost at my door for delivery? How much can this be if I was in the UK? Is there a approximate max fee I am going to have to leave at my house?

I guess no one has the details yet as it is too early? I could have waited as I have command air/naval to tinker with and when X Rebirth gets released next week I suspect much of my pre xmas time is going to go on that.

So I may pay up to $20 upon delivery from what I have read? Is this a correct assumption as if so, I am not that bothered really. Think Matrix should give us a present hint hint

goulash, you may not get dinged. Matrix explained it in a post in another thread. Well at least here in Canada, there is a good 30 to 60% chance that it gets checked at the border when it comes in. There is a minimum $15.00 (not 100% sure) government inspection fee plus a GST of another 13% plus any additional fees that Fed Ex Custom Broker may charge for handling the extra work at the border. Then again, it may simply go by the border and not have any additional charges added when you get it.

Hey I purchased $4.72 worth of US Stamps for my Collection and got dinged almost $20.00 in border fee charges for a simply $4.72 stamp purchase. Go Figure..........

Oh and very important: These extra fees have absolutely nothing to do with Matrix Games, it is nothing that they are in control off. Wanted to make that clear.

Of out curiosity, how much delivery fee are those in the US being charged? Or UK and Euro zone.

Euro Zone (Denmark)
Game: $99.99
Shipping: $42
Import fee: $28 (Couldn't find the FedEx numbers so this is based on the mail-service quote)
Customs: Unsure, depends on whether they charge it as books, video-games or plain DVDs. Anywhere between 3-12%
25% VAT(calculated on original price+shipping+customs+import fee): Depends on the above but around $40-$50
So all in all, getting the game here would run me somewhere between $110-$140.
Which makes me a rather vocal supporter of the download-only option. [:D]

Damn, did not want to start anything, all I want is an option to ship the "cheapest way possible", like I said want to purchase it but don't want to pay double or in my case over $250.00 CND for a Game and some manuals. Let me pay and play now, and ship it on the next "slow boat" as I am willing to pay to get it to me and any subsequent duty charges, but not at double the price of the game. Sorry Devs, but give me a cheaper option and you can have all my money, not Fed Ex and the government.

I recently received three Ink carts. They were for my son to take back to Malaysia.
British supplier that German mailer sent via USA!

Cost of carts. circa £3 Delivery, customs etc plus handling fee from PO: £11.

As it was suppliers fault I was, eventually, reimbursed.

Goodness knows how much "extra" I would have to pay if I ordered.

Would appreciate someone in UK letting me know upon receipt. Thanks.

The shipping fee to Austria is 33 Euros. Since the package contains 3 books (VAT 10%) plus one CD (VAT 20% I think) and the VAT was already paid when purchasing it via Plimus, there will be no additional fee, charge, tax or whatever at delivery.

I do not worry at all about any charges still to await payment. In pre-EU time, I had 4 or 5 parcels full of books shipped from Ireland to Austria, one was opened for checking, and still I didn't have to pay anything additional.

The price in Essen was 150,- Euro, including the maps. Excluding the road trip and entrance fee of 15,-.
Whatever the pricepoint it starts with, there is always something which you don't like.
I think the decision to include the manuals was a good one. The pricepoint chosen was lower than we actually expected. A pity that the international customers will have to pay that much for shipping and taxes. This international customer was quit happy with the Essen release, however. Even if the total price was higher than most of the internationals will pay at the moment including shipping. (I do have the maps however - still deciding if I will wallpaper my mancave with them)

I'd be real careful with assuming no added VAT.
I had a brief chat with the local tax-office on Friday, and while I would've already paid VAT on the game through Plimus, that wouldn't apply for the hard-copies since they're sent from outside the EU, and thus are considered to be another package....Just happens to be worth the same.
Not saying this is applicable to Austria as well, but I'd check.

Thank you, and I will keep your words in mind until the package arrives. Still I never had to pay anything when book parcels arrived here at my place, pre-EU, and now (amazon-marketplace 2nd hand books shipped from the U.S.)

Let's wait and see then.

Did Iain actually say that publicly? If not then I suggest you read up on the laws regarding libel because writing and publishing anything that you know to be false that negatively affects a person's professional reputation is what libel laws are designed to prevent.

If you meant it as a joke then please label it as such - and even then it is still libel and I don't think it is funny.

I bought it and paid the ludicrous $50 Australian for the postage. I really want the game, but honestly I would have preferred to have done without the manuals, even if it meant paying for them and not having them delivered. Delivery adds 50% to the cost, and that really sticks in the craw. I have two copies of the physical game (5th and FE). I would have got by with the rules from those plus referring to the electronic copies of the manuals.

I'm not complaining about the game, which I am very happy to see, but honestly.... The delivery options are appalling. I can't believe that the poor guy who started this thread got slugged the same postage for Canada as for Australia!

I don't make this crap up to amuse you.

In neither of those links did I find a quote from Iain using the words that you originally wrote. He did speak about the perceived value of games being a reflection of their price but you have badly misquoted him.

Matrix can decide how they respond to your post but I personally was astounded at what was allegedly said by Iain to the point where I am spending my time to research whether he actually said it. I've never met Iain and have no personal financial interest in Matrix (except wishing that they continue in business) and if I had accepted your version of Iain's words then my opinion of Matrix would be been badly affected.

In short, you *are* making this crap up and are treading on thin legal ice in the process.
