How to question?

Lets say I form a naval strike mission and would like the group to fly a route other than the direct one to the target. In this case I may want to fly around some territory that could be dangerous. Is there away to do this?

With the F3 key you can set a course and various waypoints.
I do it like this and once they are at the end of their intended route I assign them to a Strike Mission with the correct targets.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. This means I would have to keep track of where the group is at all times. In many scenarios there is too much going on to be able to do this. I am not a good micro manager. Too bad we cant set a specific route in the mission set up page.

That would be awesome but then again, you set the course of the group just once and then you have to monitor when it's near. All you need to do then is assign the group.
If it's an important strike I would want to be on top of it anyway - whether it's fully automated or not. So I don't really consider it micromanaging, just monitoring

You can set up a "No-Navigation Zone" in the "Unit Orders" tab.

You can assign the strike mision right from the start and use F3 to define a path to target, just make sure the "Ignore plotted course when attacking" is unchecked in the right-click context menu of your attacking air group.
Result: Group will follow the F3 defined waypoints prior to carrying out the strike mission - voilà!

Sorry to ask a stupid question but what do you mean by doing that. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

You can set up a "No-Navigation Zone" in the "Unit Orders" tab.
Example is 2 friendly bases, with a hostile SA-5 in between. Put reference points around known hostile positions, keeping their sensor and/or firing range in mind, then create a no-nav zone

I've created a ferry mission between the 2 friendly bases, the aircraft takeoff and instead of flying in a straight line, they fly around the "no-nav zone". Any ac/ships/subs etc(your choice w/ check marks) will stay out of that zone.
