Union AI never moves south in the West

After plenty of games as CSA over the last couple of months, at least up to normal aggression, the Union AI never makes any attempt to push south in the West. Plenty of attacks against Richmond, the Valley, and (somewhat) Missouri, but I never see much of anything out West. (Nor any amphibious landings, either).

What's the deal?

This was my exact experience as discussed in the beta 1.2 thread. Only for me, they didn't do much in the east either

The supply situation in the far west for the Union is very slim. It makes more sense for the AI to sit there and attack elsewhere.

Sinking resources into enough supply wagons and depots to make a move there is more expensive than fighting elsewhere.

I used to play the union side all the time and Civil War one. Only tried it once and Civil War too but it seems the AI union should have plenty of supply with the rivers. And I say West I'm not talking about Arkansas and Missouri I'm talking about Tennessee, Kentucky and down the Mississippi River...nothing. Not sure if that's the same area the op is discussing but at any rate, new patch is out I'm to give it a shot again. never had a bad experience with in an AGEOD game game up until that last game so we'll give it a shot

This is absurd then. In the end, the West is the theater where the Union broke the CSA ! It is there that the Union was the most proactive. If the AI can't get by like a human in terms of Supply, I would give it a few cheats in the form of extra supply wagons for example.

That is different. I thought you meant New Mexico and California.

It could do better in Kentucky for sure. It uses the river but mainly works along the edges. It is too easy to push them back to the Ohio river and it doesn’t strike hard for Ft. Donelson or Nashville.

It would rather send raiders from Kansas into the IT, which it is much too preoccupied with, than fight in the middle.

I think it needs its priorities adjusted.

The foremost priority of the Union in the west should be to establish river superiority to exploit to hit the following targets, choosing the weakest first : Columbus, fort Donelson, Island 10, Nashville, Memphis.
