Am I missing something?

Just bought the game and am now running through the quick start / tutorial. Got as far as this:
We need to do the same for the 1st AA unit. In the case of the 1st AA, we will be given a dialog when we accept the orders. 1st AA contains troops which can dismount at the end of the trip. In this case set the distance to zero so the troops get out in the fortification.
I get no dialog and I can see that the troops are set to "Disembark at range 1"

all mounted units (most are mechanised infantry) will dismount at the end of a 'deliberate' or 'assault' move. The pop up box will ask you where you want this to happen. I think the range is 0 (in final hex) to 2 (ie 1000m from destination).
If you think they will have to fight at the end then 1 seems a reasonable default, if you think they will reach the hex safely 0 is good.
What happens is at the chosen point, the manpower and vehicles separate. So if the enemy hit the APC, at least your unit is intact.

I think the "given a dialog" means the popup window where you can set the dismount distance.

Clearly I didn't make myself clear.....
No dialog appears whatsoever when I click back on the AA unit..... Nada..... Zilch......Nothing.

Think it was changed in the patch so that only mech infantry get the dialog.

Thanks mate - I can see it in the release notes for 2.02 (need a minor update to the tutorial PDF methinks):
CHANGED: When units with passengers were given Assault or Deliberate Movement orders then a dialog would pop up asking how far away from the objective to dismount at and proceed on foot. The scope of this was overly broad and has now been restricted to just mechanized infantry. HQ, air defense and artillery units will not have this option any more. Further, if the mechanized infantry have already lost so many of their vehicles that they are already on foot this question will no longer be asked.

Also, I think Rob went a little overboard on limiting the popup dialogue to mech inf only. There are a few other units that need that option and it is something we have discussed.

The document is updated and I thought posted with the update. Should say Revision 1. If I missed that I will post the file this evening.
The types for the dialog will be updated in the next patch and will be mech infantry and recon/scout units. All other units will unload at their final destination.
That should fix everything. Hopefully. [;)]
