A2A behaviour

I think that one of the latest fixes (this is build 474) has changed the A2A combat routines and once all of the OTH missiles are gone, the Ftr RTBs. Problem is that if the last OTH missile is an SARH (Aim-7 or SkyFlash), the A/C turns away once it off the rails and the missile goes blind and 5 seconds later self destructs. I think this one needs a tweak.

This A2A behaviour of staying out of the knife fight is usually good and I like the fix in general, but perhaps it should have a toggle. Once an A/C is RTB it stays that way and I cannot seem to break it away from its B-Line to the Barn. Since this fix I haven't managed to fire a Sidewinder yet! Suggest that there is an ROE setting to allow the AC to go in for the dog-fight to beat away the flock of Fencers. [:D]

Thanks

Unassigning it ("U" key) doesn't bring it out of RTB mode?

NP.

Can you please post a save just prior to the "last AIM-7 launch" situation so that we can investigate the "not holding SARH illumination" problem? Thanks!

And now that I look things over. There is already and ROE for 'maintain standoff' I think that will achieve the second point in my post.

OK, I think its been saved over (running the game at the moment) will save just before it does it again and send it in.

That option was created mainly for ships, subs and land units. In air combat, you either have the weapon range advantage and you use it right away, or you don't, and you sprint-in hoping the other guy misses and that your shot doesn't. Either way the standoff doctrine doesn't help.
