Performance Issues

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and would like to find out why my DW is lagging so badly mid game.
I have a rather strange performance problem. When I start a fresh game I can play without any problem (at least I think thats the way it is), but I once I load a saved game (mid game) I get terrible lags and it makes it almost unplayable. I have set down the frame rate and such, which helps alot, but I still get lags when zooming and pop-up delays.
I allocated more virtual ram within windows, which didn't seem to help a bit. With 16GB RAM and 2 Terrabyte hard drive... I wonder how this 2D game can lag so badly.
My rig is high end, so this should not be an issue. Please see specs below (DW with all extentions):

Thanks in advance!
