Politics in Flames units

MWiF adds units to WiFFE from Politics in Flames, a product I do not own. I was wondering what had been added, so I found out. One immediately obvious new unit was Guderian. The addition of an early four point HQ to the Axis force pool helps the Axis immensely. What do the Allies get in compensation?

If you are new to WiF, this is meaningless; all the units are new to you; if, like me, you are familiar with WiF, but not with PoliF, this might be useful to you.

In 1943, the US gets Hodges, a 5(3)2 INF-HQ, the Russians Chernayakhovsky, a 7(3)4 ARM-HQ, and the Poles an 8-6 white print ARM corps. These units do not, in my opinion, equal Guderian's influence, simply because they arrive so late. I am not certain that the CW is wild about an 8-6 ARM corps, because it is not as good as others in the CW force pool.

More importantly, the Russians add six MIL, one of them a reserve, to their force pool. The Russians like corps that only cost two build points.

The French add a 6-3 White print MIL in Senegal, which is very hard for them to use, I found.

The Russians also get a Mongoloian CAV unit, another unit that is not easy to use. Certainly I keep forgetting to move it.

The Yugoslavs get a 6-5 MECH in 1943; if this unit appears in a game, it is likely to be Axis.

The Germans get a 1940 1-4 airlanding MTN division; this could be useful in a major paradrop, and a 1942 3-5 SS CAV division, which is only useful if the Germans are desperate for garrison points.

The Chinese warlords were added by PoliF; three units for the Chinese, three for the Japanese.

City based volunteers, Ukrainians, and partisan HQs have been added, but none of these optional rules have yet been implemented.

My thanks to Patrice Forno for his wonderful spreadsheets containing all the WiF unit information, without which this analysis would not have been possible.

The Chinese warlords, at least at the start, are 4-2 split in favor of the Chinese. They start with Lan-Chow, Cheng-tu, Chungking, and Kunming, while the Japanese have Shanghai and Peking.
