cost of buying units back

Michael not sure if this was on the list or not but the cost/time to buy destroyed land units is a mere pittance vs what it takes for an air unit. It seems to me that it'd be cheaper/shorter to get an air unit back than a land unit. Granted it may take some time for a land unit to fill out once on map depending on how big it is.

For land unit, you are really just buying the 'shell' of the unit with one or more devices. How big it will get depends on TOE and available devices in pool. So as you say it could take sometime to build up the unit
For air group, you are buying back a unit that can expand into many a/c with a much longer reach than a simple LCU. More often, there are available planes to expand and get the group into action quickly.

Still don't you think that the air unit delay is a bit excessive? I see your point but it was kinda quick that they could rebuild a squadron & get it into combat if needed w/ the only limiting factors being pilots/airframes & quality therein. IIRC Boyington created his VMF214 this way from the previous VMF214 that was rotated out. I think that the max of 12 replacement every week or so does enough to hold back growing a unit too fast & pilot pool can be just as well unless you've got it stocked w/ a bunch of high exp pilots. I'd say to buy an air unit back that your get a random ldr along w/ him as a pilot but no a/c or 1 a/c. I'm not sure exactly on the PP spent how much that should go down but the current way does still seem excessive. You also could still have the restricted/un rebuildable ones just like there're for LCU for the Dutch/Phil

FWIW and a dollar-five I'm fine with the delay. Making it too short would allow gaming replacements. A front-line unit with one plane operable could be suicided and poof! back onto the map on the WC ready to load on a CVE or overload a new Essex. The PPs for lost carrier squadrons is about two days of PPs, enough to make you think about it, but not so much it breaks you early.
When you lose three carriers in mid-1942 as I did against Mike that's a heap 'a burnin' burnin' Airedale love to come up with at a rough time for PPs. So feel very, very sorry for me. [:)]

Buying back some land units is not cheap at all. I have some 40AV garrison units that cost 900 PPs!!! I will not be buying those back obviously. So it's not always size of unit that determines it's buyback.

There's a unit that usually dies in Malaysia in December 41 that's mostly Malaysian army squads and it's about 600 PP. There it sits.

I lost one of the Vietnamese Militia units. 630 PPs to buy it back.
Nope...

Check the unit for any active guns and mortars over 70mm - each such device costs you 10 PPs.

Look at the lcu vs air unit delay times when bought back - approx. 30days for land unit vs 6+mos for an air unit even when nothing more than a flight/section of a/c. I would think that the 30days would be appropriate for both. Granted that the land unit being back to full strength could be much longer than the 30days based on devices available so true time out of play is longer but a land unit would historically take longer as actual manpower is greater than an air unit so should actually take longer to fill out to full strength for larger units.
