Berlin Offensive

Image

I can encircle Berlin, but not in time to have supply become an issue for the two monster units there. One is augmented by Tiger II’s and the other by Flak 88: I sent may units against them and had several simply perish. I did win this scenario once, but for the life of me I cannot replicate that victory.

Focus on the eastern hex first - notice that it's the supply source, and also it has the flak unit. So if you can take that hex, the TigerII unit in the objective hex will be out of supply, and also vulnerable to air attack (although you do risk turning the city into ruins as well...)

Taking the eastern hex isn't all that hard - make sure you have a couple of full strength units with artillery sitting next to it. The artillery have a good chance of removing the entrenchment, even if the attack fails. Get a few hits of suppression, even if you costs your infantry dearly, and your strong tanks units can finish it off.

Basically use the same strategy on the objective hex, which is now out of supply and which with a bit of luck you can get some aerial suppression on.

PS - in your screenshot, who let that German unit get through to run behind your lines along the Baltic?? I trust some kommissar got a vacation to Irkustk over that one! ;)

Thanks for the tips: does the "artillery sitting next to it" mean adding the artillery specialist step to a unit after taking it from another, or is there some specific way to utilize artillery in the game?
