A bridge too far - now available

New Scenario

This scenario looks at a vertical assault on a key bridge or rather the aftermath of one where 1 BR Corp (UK) is racing units to recapture the bridge before soviet tank forces arrive to reinforce the air assault troops.

While WP doctrine would have any such air assault supported by the army's attack helicopter regiment, having approx. 40 gunships in a scenario would be a touch of overkill so instead I’ve opted for a nil presence of helicopters focusing on the NATO use of any available ground force in the local area, in this case regular and TA units facing an airborne force with a OMG heading at full speed to link up with them.

If the bridge is not recaptured then all combat units will be cut off from 1 BR Corp (UK) on the other side of the Main River.

11/04/14 - updated to 2.03a patch levels

A grim little scenario. Played it three times.

Things go from bad to worse. Bad being 10,000 meter visibility most of the day.

No matter how well I do I can't disengage enough assets to concentrate on taking the bridges.

Has anyone been able to recapture the bridge??

Been playing this recently after updating it to 2.03a and even I'm struggling....

Tazak, one question. There is a missing bridge 1km east of Michelbach. Is this as intended? Also missing 3 bridges near Niederrodenbach in the northwest corner of the map. Missing one bridge at Gondsroth too. Just want to make sure they are intended or should be blown?

Getting setup to start the game. Should be a blast.

I was derailed a bit working on some 2.04 code issues, but I'm off to a good start. The Soviet airborne force is getting shredded by my forces as they attempt to form a bridgehead back into my territory. After a couple of hours I now have Soviet armor approaching over the southern route and straight into a well planed and even better executed ATGM ambush. Over 20 soviet tanks are burning and a few scouts to the loss of 3 SPATs on my end. Most of my armor is protecting the northern approach and has yet to make contact. I'm planning on swinging my armor south if my recon units show no force north. I hope to get more time to finish the fight near the weekend. Good fun so far.

been playing this and I think I do need to tone down the soviet forces a bit, often getting a win in terms of VPs but not recapturing the bridge which should be the main aim

I need to find some time to finish my game. I was doing a good job of taking the Soviets apart. [:D]

This is a hard one. I can't get anywhere near the damn bridge, and I am being attacked on three sides! I love it!

I am just looking at the scenario description- very interesting situation!

At 0 hour, is the momentum intended to be with the Soviet advance over the bridge, or is the intention for the British to advance immediately?
It looks like the battle will begin with the front lines in contact. Are the British to rebuff the Soviets and counter attack or is the scenario starting at the second part? I don't want to load it up to find out before I plan a mission, as that would be a big spoiler.
Thanks!
