How to slow down messages and turns?

How do you slow down the messages and turns in the game? Too many times the messages just flash by too fast and I don't have a chance to read them or digest them into the strategy that I'm planning.
Also, how do I change the screen resolution in the game?

I'm not sure if you're still out there, and apologize for not responding. I must have meant to check on how to slow messages but forgot. There should be an option available from the menu at the lower right. And as for screen resolution, that can't be changed in-game. There are various threads on it, such as this one:
