CSA Naval Suggestions?

Looking for To-Do list and suggestions on naval for CSA, not runners, raiders and river (building boats to increasing level in infrastructure).

So you send all Brigs out as Raiders immediately? Set them "Attack Posture", "Retreat"?

What level and how fast to increase River Transports in the Interior options?

Is it worth building Ironclads? When I finished CSS Manassas, I consolidated all CSA fighting vessels on the Mississippi into one command and tried a sneak attack, just to see what happened. Relatively moderate USA force was able to repulse me. So is it really worth building fighting vessels as opposed to beefing up river forts?

Do Mines go away after 1 turn?

How is the best way to building up river forts and emplace artillery to hinder USA river movement?

Still really unclear about how to manage blockade running?

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

1) Brigs to blockade boxes, retreat posture
2) River transports increase is not as important as rail, it depends how muh of your supplies is going via rivers
3) A strategy choice, you could try a river fleet program, but againt determined Union player doing the same you have slim chances. Building forts is not good either, I would rather take key regions by the river, and entrench brigades with artillery in the region. After entrenchment 3, you can click on special order fire at passing ships
4) Yes
5) See 3)
6) See 1)

So even Semmes is Retreat Posture, Retreat Tactic?

Yes. Brigs should be used as blockade runners to gather much-needed war supply. Keep them in blockade boxes with avoidance of combat -- keeps them alive longer.

That helps.

In terms of Raiders, like Semmes, they should be on Attack Posture, but Retreat tactic, correct?

Which ships other than Semmes does the CSA use as Raiders normally? There is one other Brig with a Commander (can't remember the name), is he to be used as a Raider or Runner?

Well, if you're interested in attacking Union shipping, I would shift to frigates. You can still keep them on defense, as engagements will occur. But you'll never be able to build a sufficient force to counter Union offensive forces in that box -- and, what's the point? So they lose a ship or two. In sheer numbers, that won't matter, but one loss of yours is a travesty. In the words of Nimitz: we can't afford to exchange carriers one-for-one with the Japanese.

But they will still act as Raider against merchant shipping while on Defend Posture?

I read on one post here that Semmes and Co should be on Retreat tactic, but it was unclear what Posture would assure him attacking merchants. Or maybe it is all abstracted as long as he is in the box?

Remember: there are two boxes, Shipping and Blockade. One is for the South to place runners (ie, receive war supplies), the other for Union Shipping.
