The victors literally write the history, it seems. Keen to read about the Axis side of Wacht am Rhein, but I'm finding it hard to find much about it. Can anyone recommend anything? I'd like to know about the Axis side of the Bastogne sector, in particular.

I think you'll find the Germans have written plenty about the war but it's rarely translated into English. There's for example offcial histories of first and second world wars published by this lot (if your German is up to it - mine isn't I was kinda hoping they may have translated some in English)

Clarendon Press are apparently translating/publishing an english version of the Official History, at least 9 of the 13 volumes are available, with additional ones being released every few years.

When it is maybe a trip to the local library will help - they can order books from libraries all over the UK for a small charge.

They should all be available from the publisher direct. Those which are out of print are listed as available as on demand which should be similar in cost to a standard volume.

You might also want to see what Stackpole have available. I picked up Truppenfurung, and Panzer Tactics from them, and their catalogue was quite extensive... there might be something else of relevance to your needs there.

The Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg by Roland Gaul is a good account of the German soldiers in the 7th Army battles along the Southern shoulder. Mainly first person dialog from the german soldiers themselves with some background information provided by mssr. Gaul, who is the curator of the Diekirch Museum (arguably one of the best museums in the Ardennes.)

I'm reading Hitler's Ardennes Offensive at the moment by Danny S Parker.
I picked it up second hand on Amazon for about £1!
Its quite a good book, based on the interviews, from the German Generals, high in the command structure, during the Battle.

Its very informative, about how much they knew or didn't know about the Allies at the time, as well as shedding light on their own forces, strengths, and weaknesses.
