Demoting generals?

I promoted Stonewall to 3 stars - should never have done that!
He's now got the "Quickly angered" ability which makes him useless as a stack commander.
Is there any way to demote him to 2 stars again?
Or do I have to do without him from now on?

Just give him a HQ unit.

Will this really cancel the ill-effects of the "Quickly angered" ability?
An HQ unit, according to the tool-tip, just gives a +1 bonus to command points, while the "Quickly angered" ability gives -4 to command points.
Or do you mean that it will make it possible to demote him to 2 stars?

A HQ unit provides more than 1 CP, if it is not enough for you give him a balloon too.

I doesn’t ruin him as a corps commander and he can take an army. He get automatically promoted to 2* which is when it gets the trait anyway.

Leaders are never demoted. You can, at some cost, give some other 3-star an army first.
