Fall Weiss AAR (Colonel) vs AI

I purchased Panzer Corps along with the 1939 and 1940 DLC expansion kits 2-years ago. I really like this game; but have focused most of my gaming energies on Commander Europe at War Grand Strategy (CEaW-GS). In fact, I’ve written well over a dozen AARs over the past 5-years. Since July I’ve completed two AARs, one against the AI and one hotseat. Reference: AAR vs AI and Hotseat AAR

I pick this game (i.e., Panzer Corps) back up in the last week and started playing it again. In reality, I’ve never got past Operation Weserubung before I got distracted and fully involved with CEaW-GS. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to go deeper in the Panzer Corps Grand Campaign scenario. It was just the time realities of work and family constraining the time I had available for gaming. I know … I should have got my gaming priorities straight and not let other things get in the way. This time I’ve decided to allocate my limited time for gaming to play through the Grand Campaign Scenario at the default setting (i.e., Colonel).

To refamiliarize myself with Panzer Corps I went back through the tutorial (all decisive victories) and the Fall Weiss (decisive) and Operation Weserubung (marginal). I’ve also come back to this forum for tips on strategy and mechanics of play. Personally, I’ve found AARs instructive and fun to read. One thing I noticed in this forum, compared to the one for CEaW over at Slitherine, was the lack of AARs. This is not meant as a ding but just an observation.

Is there any interest for an AAR against the AI (grand campaign 1939 ¡V 1945)? If so, I¡¦d be willing to do this and at the level of detail illustrated in my CEaW-GS AARs referenced above. I certainly wouldn¡¦t want to do this without any interest and participation from the community. So, is there any interest and willingness to participate (i.e., comment on and provide constructive criticism on my play) in an AAR?
I would eagerly follow this AAR but I suspect that I would not make many comments.

I haven't played the grand campaign past 1940 myself.

Orm - Thanks. By the way, I'm following 3 AARs over in the MWiF forum and are thoroughly enjoying them. I can tell by your comments in those AAR's that you're one of the WiF experts and really understand that game as well as anyone can. I've never played it myself. I'm definitely intrigued by MWiF; but also intimidated by the complexity of the rules and length of time a game takes. Maybe one day I'll take the plunge but for now I guess I'll stick with the level of complexity and length of play of Panzer Corps, CEaW Grand Strategy and Battlefield Academy. Though I will continue to follow those AARs.

Here you see Lodz controlled by Poland although you have a German unit railed into the city. Weird.

Looking good so far..I like your AARs on the Slitherine forum for Commander Europe at War Grand Strategy (CEaW-GS) and this ones looking like it'll be as interesting.

One little tip - at the end of the first mission you wrote you took the opportunity to bring units not in the action up to full strength. DON'T do this...normal reinforcements are free in the deployment phase and elite reinforcements are half the cost so if you don't need them for the current scenario just keep them under strength until you deploy for the next [;)]

Wow -- didn't know that! As you'll see in the deployment phase of Operation Wesereubung I don't have enough Prestige points to do what I want and I have to make a hard choice.

I can guarantee that I'll make more bone headed mistakes -- please keep pointing those out and, especially, keep the tips coming. [;)]
