Could one add air-to-air missiles to fighters? I don't see any aircraft armed with AAM missles. I'm sure that makes all of the virtual AH pilots feel great, but doesn't necessarily confirm to the environment the game is modeling.

There is at least 1 soviet heli with AAM, well equipped with a SAM, looking at the weapon data for SAMs it should be possible to 'create' a AAM and add it as a load out to aircraft. Would the ground attack 'AI' use all weapons when attacking a enemy heli ? this might be a slight flaw if it expends A-S Ammo when carrying out an A-A attack but I don't see any major hurdles to equipping aircraft and helo with AAM where is was actually used.

I cannot see instances where you set up an air-air engagement with aircraft i.e. dogfighting

The air superiority duel is a layer outside the game bubble for now. The scenario designer is basically calling air superiority for a side if they get strike aircraft and helos over the battle field or it is contested enough both side are getting CAS and helos in.

Aircraft vs aircraft dogfight won't happen because they are called in and won't "see" each other. You should be able to take an aircraft and load it out with SAMs (AAMs) and go after helos. The game should "attack" with the SAMs and Gun. Haven't tried it from a strike aircraft, but have with a Polish Mi-2 with AAMs. [;)]
