Question to players - Northern Fury

I have been working on a Battle Set called Northern Fury which is a WW3 start in 94 and the Soviet/WP are breaking through the GIUK Gap and NATO is trying to initially hold them back and then stop the thrust and through them back.

The problem I am having is that in the first 7 scenarios, its not much fun for the NATO player to essentially lose. I find myself skewing the victory conditions to the point where mere survival is a win.

What do you guys think of mixing up the playable side? Something like:

Scenario 1: NATO player, receiving the shock and awe and scrambling (already built - H hr)
Scenario 2-7: WP player, Sweep NATO out of the North Sea and GIUK Gap, ambphib & airborne ops etc
Scenario 8: NATO player: Hold the line (already built)
Most of the rest - pushing the Soviets back would be NATO player.

Very interested in your views on this. My initial thought was to make everything NATO player and then perhaps go back and build a Soviet Player set, but I'm not so sure now.

Thanks

B

Personally I would prefer for the playable sides to be mixed, although - in truth, I don't entirely mind being on the 'losing end' where mere survival is a win (provided that is the scenario is a reasonable length - a couple of days or so: getting hammered for longer than this tends to get somewhat boring....).

Bazza, no problem I like building them. Which one are you working on? H-Hr or Hold the line? I'm going to take the comments that I've had so far and re-issue them sometime in the next week.

I have one scenario almost complete, as the NATO guy you have 5 subs as the entire Red Banner Northern Fleet steams overhead. VP is based on detection and it's only 8 hrs, if you shoot you generally die. I might try to make that playable by both sides, since technically each side can win depending on how you set up your VP events.

Another that might be do-able from both sides is off the US coast as an Oscar and friends slam a bunch of merchies in the first hour of the war. The USCG Cutter leaving port has a hard time with that one [:D]

Thanks for your input.

That is a hectic one. Have the F-15s gotten into the fray yet? I find that is the turn around point.
