hi all im new to the forum(and kinda new to the game but i love it)any-way everytime i get into a certain stage of distant worlds shadows the screen keeps going off to the top left i try to move it back but that dosent work the only thing that helps is saveing the game however it happens more and more often as time go's on.................sorry if this has been mentioned befor iv got all the latest patches and its still happening i dont want to give up on this game as its the best X4 space game iv played(and iv played most)

First thing to do is to check your video driver I think.

Is it up to date ?

i cant update my driver mate im running vista 32bit with an nvidea 9800 gt i think i have to update my OS[:(]

Drivers for vista 32 are still followed.

iv updated the driver and its still happining(unfortuntly)i save the game and it stops but it only stops going to the top left hand corner of the scrren for a wee while then it happens again dose anyone else ever had this problrm and if they have how do they fix it[&:].........i mean i love this game but i dont want to keep saving it every five minutes[:(]

Just press the "prtscr" touch on your keyboard when the problem happens, and paste the result.

You could try set the game temporarily to window mode. See if it changes anything, and it will also be easier for you to recognize the problem (if it is the window moving or graphics inside the window).


Open the "startup.ini" file in the game directory in notepad (should be default)
Remove the ' symbols before the two rows with screen width and height.
Then change the resolution to a fitting size. If you have a 1920x1080 screen, you could try something like I posted below.
Then save it and start the game. It should now open in a window, and you can see if the problem still occurs.

To change back to full screen, just edit the file again and add the two ' before the two rows again.
